Trustee Bios

Dr. Dorit Braun  

Dr-Dorit-BraunDorit has worked in the voluntary and public sectors throughout her working life.  Her background is in adult and community education, and she spent many years working in family and parenting education and support, latterly as Chief Executive of the charity Parentline Plus.  Dorit has experience of health commissioning, service development and provision, charity mergers, governance, policy lobbying and income generation. 

Dorit left Parentline Plus to work on a number of projects, and specialises in supporting not for profit start ups.  She is currently Project Director for the start up phase of The College of Social Work being hosted by The Social Care Institute for Excellence. 
Dorit is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the charity Working with Men, and a Non Executive Director of CWDC.

Martin Williams  

Martin-Williams2Martin Williams has been Director of Higher Education, Strategy and Implementation at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) since November 2006.

During his civil service career in the Department of Employment and BIS, his work has included industrial relations, unemployment, the school workforce and the Higher Education Act 2004. Between 1989 and 1990 he studied at the Ecole Nationale d’Administration in Paris, and he has also spent time with the Employment Service and the Health and Safety Executive.

Stephen Dunmore

Stephen-DunmoreStephen Dunmore was chief executive of the Big Lottery Fund from June 2004 to January 2008. He was previously chief executive of the New Opportunities Fund (from 1998) and in November 2003 was also appointed Chief executive of the Community Fund, to lead the merger of the two organisations to form the Big Lottery Fund. 

Following a spell as an Inspector of Ancient Monuments (1976-1984) and postings in housing and urban policy in the Department of the Environment (1984-1992), he became acting Chief Executive of the Liverpool Housing Action Trust and then moved to the Cabinet Office (Citizen's Charter Unit) in 1993 and to the Merseyside Task Force in the same year. From 1995 to 1998, he was Director, Regeneration, Transport and Planning in the Government Office for Merseyside. Since leaving the Big Lottery Fund, he has been Interim Chief Executive of the Responsible Gambling Fund and, , more recently CE at both Lumos and The princess Diana Memorial Fund. .Stephen has also been a member of the Commission on the Future of Volunteering, the NCVO's Funding Commission and the Office for Civil Society's Advisory Body. He is currently Chair of National Family Mediation, Chair of the BBC's Advisory Committee on Charitable Appeals, Chair of Capacitybuilders and a trustee of the Prince's Countryside Fund.

Educated at Kettering Grammar School and King's College London, Stephen is married with one daughter.

Jonathan Seller

avatars-maleJonathan has been the Deputy Director of Human Resources for the House of Lords since 2008. He was involved in the development of a focused Human Resources strategy and Learning and Development plan that aligns with the 5 year organisational business plan of the House of Lords. Previous to this role Jonathan was the Director of Human Resources for Family Lives (previously Parentline plus) and worked in the development and delivery of a comprehensive HR and Training & Development strategy. Jonathan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development from the Croydon Business School.

David Bryan

avatars-maleDavid Bryan MBA FRSA is a management consultant, specialising in organisation development. He works mainly within the public sector but has a lengthy history of working and representing the voluntary sector. Currently, he has engaged in Board and Management development within the NHS.

David has also had several roles within the arts sector including a producer of dance and theatre. He played a central role in the delivery of equality and diversity training within the Arts Council and their clients groups.

He was for several years on the board of NCVO and an advisor on Race to the Home Office. He is a director of Onyxarts Foundation and a governor of Dunraven School.

Mat Ilic

avatars-maleMat is a Senior Policy and Projects Officer for the Greater London Authority. This role is part of the Violent and Youth Crime team delivering one of the Mayor of London's flagship policies.  His day to day project management responsibilities are for a project aiming to enhance evidence-led decision making in children and young people's services across London (Project Oracle). He is also responsible for new policy areas such as social investment.

Lucy Horncastle - Treasurer

avatars-femaleLucy works as a consultant in the asset management industry where she advises on investment risk management, fund reviews and on-boarding new client accounts and products.  Prior to becoming a consultant, Lucy spent 18 years as a portfolio manager and an analyst and has written articles on trading techniques and risk management.  Lucy has two children and is involved in arranging fund raising events for her children’s school.  She is also a patron of the Michael John Henry Award, which is an annual award presented to young people for outstanding achievements in the Leicester YMCA education programmes.
